Since the Festival’s inception in 1977, the original vision of Spoleto Festival USA has become a reality: young artists and established masters work side by side, well-known works and neglected masterpieces are presented along with innovative productions by brilliant newcomers, and a broad array of opera, dance, theater, ballet, and music create a kaleidoscope of color around the venerable city of Charleston, South Carolina each year.

For 17 days during the springtime, this vast panorama transforms one of America’s more beautiful and historic cities into a cultural gathering place where artists are nurtured, ideas are shared, and audiences are enchanted. And it would not happen without you. Individuals, corporations, foundations and public funding account for more than 50% of the Festival’s annual operating needs.
